One Elova Record

This blog tells the story of Elova, a fun freaking indie soul band from London, making a totally independent album in 2008. We want to share the story of how we get there as its totally unchartered territory for us (and maybe for you too) and should be a funny ole ride!

We’ve been working together for two years and released two EPs ‘Stoke It’ and ‘Summa Dis Summa Dat’ but by early 2007 we decided it was time to stamp our mark proper and do an album, entirely independently e.g. without record label backing, contacts, support. We got a little waylaid en route and decided to run away with OneTaste for the Summer and have a ball gigging around the UK Summer festivals. By the time we landed back in London in the Autumn we were raring to get cracking on a gorgeous beast of an album…but we needed an accomplice…

So we spent a while hunting for a producer who we could work with to oversee the recording and production process and be the jury when we’re arguing about whether to add a gospel choir to the last chorus! Luckily we managed to track down world class bad bwoi producer KK who digs what we do, understands what we’re about and has a CV comparable to a multi-storey wedding cake! And just as tasty..

So in a nutshell thats how it all got started. We plan on having an amazing album by the end of April and we want you to be a part of it!
